- Description
London Teaching Pool is currently seeking to recruit a Support Worker to work for a client in Essex County Council (Colchester) for an immediate start.
Our client is aged between 50 55 years old and has a diagnosis of Downs Syndrome and Dementia. Our client primary method of communication is Makaton with the use of short sentences, various sounds and picture cards for points of reference. Our client also has a hearing impairment and wears a hearing aid. The support hours is for 13 hours a day/7 days in a supported living scheme (1 to 1 support)
The preferred support worker should be able to engage with our client to undertake and participate in age activities and have experience providing support with similar clients with learning disability.
Due to associated risks, the support will prefer an experienced female support worker with skills on the use of Makaton and can also administer/prompt medication
.
This role is for an immediate start

To provide high standards of support to service users in the community, including assistance with, escorting, prompting and engaging with client
Access to community
Support with meal preparation
To be reliable, punctual and excellent duty of care
Previous support experience is necessary
DBS on the update service
